Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since I've been on here, but I hope you're doing well! This past weekend I released my new single called "Hey, Man!"!!! This song is SO special to me for many reasons. Now, back to the fun part! "Hey, Man!" was written a few months ago in my bedroom. I was praying, asking what to write and release next, and BEHOLD! An idea came to me. This song was birthed out of desperation and TRUTH. It was so unique compared to what I normally create, and the moment I wrote it, I knew EXACTLY how I wanted it to sound overall. Producing came easily with this song- usually that NEVER happens to me! It's always one way or another, but rarely both. I was really excited.
I first came up with the riff for the chorus, and the story idea came soon after. Lyrically this song can be interpreted in many different ways, but the true meaning is based around the love and faithfulness of God & sinfulness of man. This song has an inherently Christian meaning behind it! I wrote this from the perspective of God; This song portrayed a truth of Christianity that is always implied, but never really spoken or written about.
Each verse (there are two parts to each verse, so each part is implied here) represent one of the 7 deadly sins. The first being Anger, second part being Pride, third being Greed, & fourth being Lust. This is also going to be represented in the music video! Yes, there will be a music video! Hehe!
I wanted this song to represent human nature and emptiness without God. Life without Him is empty, hence the cover idea I chose! But no matter what we humans do, He is ALWAYS there- in many different ways, offering love and help. It's up to us to allow Him to come into our lives. He GIVES us that choice. And THAT is what this song is about. It just goes to show how good He really is, and how much he truly loves us.
"Hey, Man!" has become one of my favorite songs I've ever created, and I'm so thankful to have been able to share it with you! Thank you for all of your support on this song- it's given me SO much hope for the new year, and for that I am forever grateful. I love you!
SIDENOTE: Though I normally never talk about my faith, due to confusion that proceeds by doing so, I always want to remain truthful in all that I do! I only want to love others as best as I possibly can, in whichever way I feel called to do. I want to be as authentic as I possibly can be- because THAT is what REAL artists do. And I'm gonna be honest with you- this was extremely difficult for me to talk about! But I hope it inspires YOU to be vulnerable in whatever way you can be. Because THIS is what makes us human! Our differences and individuality are what makes us, US! Though you might believe in different things, and might not even understand all that I just said, I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read this! Life is so beautiful and crazy and good in many ways, and for you to even care THIS MUCH to READ a lil blog post I made in a hotel room makes my heart so full. Know that I will always love each and every one of you! That's why I do what I do! BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!
